Requirements Management with a Wiki

Many organizations today have implemented collaborative tools to help their IT development teams become more efficient. Of these tools, a wiki is perhaps the most widely used for document management. Some organizations also make use of the wiki to host IT project artifacts, or as a repository for the requirements of their applications. But using a wiki merely to host requirements differs greatly from utilizing it to manage those requirements.

Careful planning must take place at the onset to ensure successful implementation of collaborative tools and, specifically, for a wider adoption of the wiki. Without a judicious wiki implementation, organizations eventually struggle with the hosted requirements and must conduct costly rework or reverse requirement engineering, thereby introducing unnecessary risks.

This white paper discusses how to properly implement a wiki that can be effectively utilized for IT project requirements management.
