Usability Consultant
At Perficient, we typically take a user-centered approach (UCA) to designing and developing business solutions. This means we engage users early and often throughout the solution design/development process. Our user input and feedback activities are interwoven throughout the process from inception through post-release. Our user-centered approach focuses first on defining what the solution is and only then on how it works and what it looks like. Our user-centered approach is a clear differentiator in how we do business.
Our User Experience Specialists work as leads in multidisciplinary team environments with client teams, project managers, other business and user experience specialists, visual designers and technical teams to develop/analyze high-level and detailed user requirements for solutions using a variety of user input/feedback techniques. They facilitate and report on usability and user-interface design/information architecture activities and techniques, including such methods as contextual inquiry and current/competitor solution usability tests for gathering and analyzing user requirements; task analyses and card sorting sessions, low-, medium-, and high-fidelity prototyping; iterative formative usability testing sessions coupled with prototype improvement; competitor and benchmark (summative) usability testing; heuristic evaluations, cognitive walkthroughs, field studies, and so forth.
The senior+ User Experience Specialist sometimes serves as the project manager and is also the primary liaison between the team and the client. Other responsibilities include assisting with RFP responses/proposals, proposal presentations; and helping to shape Perficient's user-centered approach to design and development; teaching and mentoring.
While not a requirement, ideal candidates exhibit a combination of business analysis and user experience skills.
