Portal: Assurant Employee Benefits
Challenge
Assurant Employee Benefits (AEB), a subsidiary of
Assurant, needed to upgrade its online presence while simultaneously
enhancing its proprietary applications. The company recognized an
opportunity to increase efficiency by cutting down on customer service
calls and providing smarter tools for insurance customers and corporate
employers. AEB looked to deliver this improved functionality with
a one-stop solution on the web.
Solution
AEB chose a WebSphere Portal solution for its new
broker, dental member, dental provider and corporate employer functionality.
Existing employer tools were easily converted into more manageable
portlets; new struts portlets created for consumers to view and
update eligibility and claims; and portlets were created to give
brokers the ability to view commission data. All these different
portlets and their authorizations are effortlessly managed through
WebSphere administrative functions and portal configuration. Using
web services, back-end data flows smoothly between legacy systems
and the portal.
