Wireless/Mobility: Cingular

Challenge

Cingular wanted to implement a “Push to Talk” initiative that would allow them to have similar “walkie-talkie” type functionality as competitors Sprint and Nextel. Additionally, Cingular needed to select a phone vendor who could provide the needed functionality.

Solution

Perficient created a real-time provisioning system that allowed customers to register for the P2Talk service and start talking with their friends in their P2Talk group. Every click on the push button is tracked for billing purposes and the system processes thousands of messages per second. The solution met message volume issues and minimal latency requirements.

Features

  • Allows Cingular customers who opt for the P2Talk feature to chat with their friends via their phone without losing plan minutes
  • Customers can create P2Talk groups which are like chat rooms, allowing users to have many-to-many discussions with friends

Benefits

  • Improved level of customer satisfaction
  • Higher customer retention because of continued service improvement and feature enrichment
  • Increased revenues from all customers that are using the P2Talk feature
