Business Integration: Luxottica
Challenge
Luxottica Group was formed from a variety of companies
and chains. This required major systems integration across multiple
companies. IT resources were spending significant amounts of time
in maintenance with almost no time left for additional growth and
technology improvement. Resources were stretched to complete routine
tasks, let alone integrate additional companies into the Luxottica
network.
Solution
Perficient provided integration expertise to simplify
Luxottica’s architecture by tying the various systems together
using an ESB. The goal was to eliminate the complexity of integration
by using a Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) that was more robust,
less complex, and easy to maintain. Perficient’s QSR engagement
also involved the development of SOA and integration best practices,
and development of a SOA roadmap. Luxottica can now integrate the
resulting services into a variety of projects. The SOA roadmap provided
further benefit by providing a view on how to implement, and plans
for governance, further training, and the incremental acquisition
of technology.
