SOA: PetSmart
Challenge
PetSmart wanted to create an architecture to support
multiple sales channels through reusable services and flexible business
processes while integrating with legacy and newly purchased systems.
Solution
Perficient detailed best practices for SOA governance,
organizational structure and change, and project lifecycle management,
and also implemented a real-time, event-driven Enterprise Service
Bus. Perficient's solution included designing and developing a carrier
notification system to improve freight visibility to transportation
management; establishing a B2B gateway; integrating a new warehouse
management system to provide real-time data between multiple enterprise
systems including SAP; and implementing a sales process enhancement
project to collect real-time POS data from over 850 stores and feed
it into an operational data store.
