Austin, Texas (October 3, 2005) – Jack McDonald, Chairman and CEO of Austin-based Perficient (PRFT), a leading information technology consulting firm in the central United States, is featured on the cover of the October 3, 2005 issue of VARBusiness, a leading, national magazine covering strategy and technology trends. McDonald and Perficient are also featured prominently in the magazine’s cover story, “Banking on the Channel: How the Services Boom is Helping VARs Expand their Businesses with Private Equity.”
The article mentions that, in 2002, four years after its founding, Perficient hoped to bolster its IT services business with a broader range of offerings targeted at Global 2000 organizations. It goes on to detail how Mort Meyerson, the former CEO of Perot Systems and president of EDS and current head of 2M Technology Ventures, a venture-capital firm, offered some private investment in public equity (PIPE) funding after being introduced to Perficient by one of its existing investors.
In the article, McDonald says Meyerson recognizes value where others don't, which gives business executives like himself the confidence to try and the fuel to burn. For example, the money provided by Meyerson gave Perficient the security to conduct two more PIPEs in the following two years with other private equity firms, helping it survive the IT economic meltdown.
"The investments made us very well-positioned to survive the nuclear winter we were all living in back then, and gave us the ability to remain cash-flow positive during the downturn," McDonald says.
Today, Perficient employs more than 575 people in 11 offices in the central United States and has an annual revenue run-rate of greater than $110 million.
McDonald and Perficient are in good company on the cover of VARBusiness. Steve Ballmer, chief executive of Microsoft, and Rudy Giuliani, former New York City mayor, have also been featured recently on the cover of VARBusiness.
