Transforming the Supply Chain With Oracle Cloud

Roeslein & Associates has experienced rapid growth through mergers and acquisitions. The manufacturer relied heavily on spreadsheets and tribal knowledge for financial and supply chain operations, which made it difficult to get newly acquired locations up to speed. Also, different sites ran on separate systems with no central data repository, which impacted the growing enterprise’s operational efficiency.

The company wanted to deploy a single, global ERP solution for financial and supply chain operations to unite all locations and provide a flexible, scalable foundation for growth.

Matching the Specs to Ensure
a Perfect Fit

Due to Roeslein’s complex organizational structure, the ERP system would need to simplify the business structure and eliminate unnecessary transactions, enable a standard-yet-flexible manufacturing process for all product lines and facilities, and provide real-time information for better decision-making and cost savings.

Roeslein decided that Oracle Cloud ERP met these requirements and was impressed by its many capabilities. Namely, Oracle offers enterprise data management with a single platform while maintaining data integrity and enterprise application alignment.

Another capability is Oracle’s Intelligent Data Recognition (IDR) document imaging cloud service, with embedded AI that enables users to scan supplier invoices and create invoices in Oracle Cloud Payables. Roeslein can also leverage mobile transactions for receiving and inventory.

Further, Roeslein can take advantage of the continuous updates and innovation inherent in Oracle Cloud.

Retooling an Enterprise With All the Nuts and Bolts

Roeslein’s user base was not familiar with ERP systems, so we led with an enablement-first approach, coming on site to share the capabilities and benefits of moving to the new system.

With leadership and end users aligned, we implemented all relevant Oracle Project-Driven Supply Chain modules: Projects, Manufacturing, Order Management, Procurement, Inventory, and Costing.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure was also integral, creating critical integrations between Oracle and UKG, as well as the company’s commerce platform.

We also implemented the full suite of Project Portfolio Management, along with Financials including general ledger, accounts payables, IDR, accounts receivable, fixed assets, cash management, and expenses.

In addition, we created a custom training program to ensure users were comfortable with the new system, and Roeslein engaged our expert ongoing managed support services for systems administration and operational assistance.

"Our Oracle implementation has been the most complex and challenging internal project in Roeslein's 35-year history. With Perficient's support, we successfully achieved go-live through a phased project approach. While our full transition is still underway, this milestone has established a strong foundation as we work toward fully realizing the system's long-term benefits." Manufacturing Success With Oracle ERP and SCM

We set up Oracle Cloud with a single legal entity and separate business units to segregate data, allow for seamless management of intercompany movements, and eliminate month-end reconciliations. Additionally, full profit and loss reporting is handled by facility code in the chart of accounts.

Oracle supports scalable manufacturing needs, which enables Roeslein to execute multiple orders/jobs with different specifications at the same time within the same facility and allows for versatile assembly build using standard work orders for highly customized production.

With Oracle Cloud Supply Chain Management, Roeslein can segregate inventory by project and common stock for improved availability and visibility. We also leveraged valuation at the project and task level to increase accuracy around project and inventory costs.

IDR allows Roeslein to more effectively manage the end-to-end payables processes by focusing on analytics, improving efficiencies, and providing suppliers with timely payment performance.

Interactive dashboards keep leadership informed with real-time data and approval notifications.

Oracle simplified and standardized processing across Roeslein’s business units, enhanced data governance, and provides greater visibility into the supply chain and real-time profit margins.
