Inc. 5000-Ranked Immersive Tech Firm
Breaking the Build Barrier With Artificial Intelligence
Our client is an Inc. 5000-ranked immersive technology firm specializing in extended reality (XR) solutions.
Challenge + Opportunity
An emerging technology leader in immersive training and simulation focused on human performance partnered with us to enhance a mission-critical application for the Department of War. While phase one delivered an initial platform, it revealed key limitations in speed, usability, and scalability.
To meet security technical implementation guide (STIG) compliance and support new capabilities, the client launched a critical second phase to enable advanced features like theming and streamlined content management. But by the time the contract was signed, only six weeks remained to complete the work.
Modern Engineering Reinvented With AI
Faced with a tight deadline, we partnered closely with the client’s product owner to pioneer a new approach. Together, we introduced the Immersion Secure AI-Augmented Workflow (ISAW), a fast, flexible method for high-stakes development that pairs Generative AI with human engineering oversight.
With this approach, large language models generated production-quality code while our engineers curated, corrected, and integrated features in real time. Rapid prototyping became the norm, and the result wasn’t just acceleration—it set a new benchmark for quality and control.
The outcome was secure, AI-led engineering governed by expert oversight, continuous documentation, and well-defined delivery processes.
The project’s success was driven by several key enablers:
- Agentic AI tools, powered by Claude Sonnet, trained to understand engineering standards
- ISAW methodology with markdown-based task scaffolding, recursive feedback loops, and automated documentation
- Secure lab delivery that enabled STIG-compliant development from day one, without infrastructure delays
- A future-forward client, ready to adopt a new model and move fast without sacrificing quality
Results Sparked by a New Way of Working
The impact was immediate and measurable. In just six weeks, the team delivered more than 51,000 lines of code, representing a 240% increase in output compared to the project’s initial development phase. Sprint commits surged from 24 to 266, a tenfold increase that accelerated development velocity across the board. At the same time, bug rates dropped by an estimated 80 to 90 percent, and, for the first time, STIG compliance was achieved on day one. This marked a major improvement over the prior phase, where compliance efforts trailed behind feature delivery.
These outcomes proved how AI and human engineering, working together, enabled delivery that was fast, precise, and stable at scale.
The project outcomes demonstrated how AI and human engineering, working together, enabled the delivery of fast, precise, and stable solutions at scale.

AI and Human Collaboration for Delivery at Scale
Beyond the numbers, the transformation was cultural. Developers were able to shift their focus from troubleshooting to innovation, which enabled faster delivery of new features. The team’s energy and momentum grew as the process evolved from reactive to proactive.
Ultimately, what began as a high-pressure challenge became a blueprint for how AI-augmented delivery can work at scale.
