HCL Acquires Select IBM Products: What It Means for You

In July, 2019 IBM sold several software suites to HCL, including WebSphere Commerce, DX Portal and web CMS products.

“This acquisition is just the latest in a long line of HCL and IBM activity,” according to Forrester’s Allen Bonde. “We also think HCL has shown that it is committed to being a better caretaker for the products it has previously taken over from IBM, especially given its strength in technology-driven transformation and desire to aggressively invest in and foster new IP.”

HCL is planning to invest in new functions and features for the IBM software products it purchased, and will honor any commitments IBM made to customers and planned features and function releases. One of the notable IBM products acquired by HCL includes WebSphere Commerce, and eCommerce platform used by 44 retailers in the Internet Retailer Top 1000.
