ST. LOUIS (September 13, 2017) – Perficient, Inc. (NASDAQ: PRFT) ("Perficient"), the leading digital transformation consulting firm serving Global 2000® and other large enterprise customers throughout North America, today announced it has moved a massive Colorado medical data warehouse into the cloud. The success significantly advances healthcare analytics in that region.
Health Data Compass supports a multi-pronged analytics initiative for breakthroughs in personalized medicine – tailored medical services based on an individual’s predicted response or risk of disease – and integrates data from two major hospital systems, a physician billing plan, and scientific laboratories at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Perficient helped redesign and re-platform Health Data Compass’ data warehouse, from an off-the-shelf commercial solution hosted by the University of Colorado to Google Cloud Platform, due to inefficiencies preventing the optimized use of the warehouse’s capabilities.
Health Data Compass was slowed by extensive infrastructure maintenance such as hardware management, security patches, and networking issues. By implementing Google Cloud Platform for enterprise data warehouse development, Perficient’s cross-functional team of experts resolved the technical issues plaguing the warehouse’s progress.
“Under the old system, we were spending a lot of our time and money just keeping the lights on and not actually advancing the project to the point where we could deliver great services,” said Michael Ames, associate director for Health Data Compass. “Perficient provided crucial expertise in helping navigate our conversation to the cloud. The cloud is providing us with a much better platform for quickly spinning up powerful environments for Big Data analytics, data visualization, and data distribution.”
Health Data Compass is a joint initiative of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, University of Colorado Medicine, UCHealth, and Children’s Hospital Colorado. It is part of the Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine, which advances the health of patients, families, and communities through data-driven science that enables evidence-based disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
